Arts Alive at Studio 5....

If passion and self belief could be measured
on the richter scale, then Leanne
Prussing would cause an earth shift of
major proportions.
This energised woman is committed
to her artwork, with representation of her
talent hanging at “Catherine Calubriale” in
Sydney and at “Moonsoon” in Burleigh Heads
on the Gold Coast. She now brings her own
specialised style of portraiture to Port Macquarie.
Her fi rst solo exhibition will be showcased
on opening night Thursday 13th November at
Gallery Studio 5.
Her career began with designing fabric prints
and hand painted fashion. But her true love has
always been canvas. After studying the Diploma
of Fine Arts, Leanne’s work has moved and
matured through differing styles and phases,
always encompassing her current interests.
The subject matter shifts between Buddha’s
and boudoirs, cartoon caricature and charcoal
sketching, personalised and family portraits.
The most recent works refl ect her enthusiasm
and excitement for Argentine Tango. “I must
paint whatever I am immersed in,” she states.
“I’ve been taking Tango lessons of late and
believe it to be the most passionate of dance.”
Two local celebrity dancers will perform at the
exhibition.
Also on display will be a collection of Rock
Star portraits including Michael Hutchence,
Madonna and an amazing explosion of colour
portraying Pavarotti in full voice.
The local celebrity of Port Macquarie has
not been unnoticed and Leanne has included a
surprise element to her exhibition which will be
ceremoniously unveiled at 6.15pm after commencement
of the evening.
Leanne is sponsoring Hastings Women and
Children’s Refuge. She has donated a painting
of “Tara – Mother Goddess” to be raffl ed. The
tickets are $5 each, limit of 200 and will be
drawn at 8.00 pm on opening night.
The Women’s Refuge will again be highlighted
in March 2009 when the female artists
of the Studio 5 collective group will conduct art
therapy workshops and hold an exhibition to
coincide with International Women’s Day.
Tango & Rock Stars will be on show from
13th November till 7th December
